Lockdown Music

from Transmission by Sila Shaman

/

about

The only venue where live music was heard during the lockdown were outdoors; parks, street, roads, sometimes home performances trickling from windows. This track is based on a collage of many, many of these impromptu performances, some recorded here in NYC, some of which were shared with me from around the world from Japan to Turkey - from a 3 year old playing a toy xylophone to a 70 year old singing "Smile". I wanted to put all these snippets of sounds together in a way that would flow, increase in intensity and also sound disorienting like the way we have all been feeling this past year.
